#533 - London 2008 #40 - Million Dollar Cash Game - The Power of Ivey

Posted by Michael Craig

Phil Ivey just picked Mike Matusow’s pocket in a $100,000 pot. It had to kill Matusow to lay down his hand, and it will kill him again as he now has to live with the doubt about Ivey’s hand … and it’ll be a third death when he finds out how Ivey played him.

Mike had pocket kings, including the king of clubs, with the following board:

4c-6c-Jh-Jc-7c

Phil Ivey, with As-4s, checked to Mike, who bet $10,000, just over a quarter of the pot. Phil, with no club and just a pair of fours, raised to $47,000.

Matusow, who was behind only a full house or the ace of clubs, took a long, long time agonizing over $37,000.  There was over $100,000 in the pot.

“Philly, Philly, Philly, Philly. Why do you do this to me Philly.” It was fully five minutes before …

MIKE MUCKED THE KINGS - WITH THE KING OF CLUBS.
