If this doesn’t get broadcast in the U.S., you’ll be missing some good poker but not, as far as I can tell, any good commentary. I don’t know these guys, but THEY don’t know THESE guys. Some guy in the control room is feeding them most of their lines, and they just don’t know the players. I thought Robert Williamson III was part of this broadcast, but I don’t see him here.
For instance, after Phil Hellmuth lost a hand with pocket kings – he limped with them and let Ferguson make a straight with 7-2o of all hands – he folded and stepped away from the table to complain. Out of the next hand, Matusow joined him and they muttered back and forth. Clearly, no one at the controls knew what close friends they are or the degree to which they consult each other for playing advice.
So as they speculated on what was being discussed, no one suggested that Mike Matusow might want to expiate his angst over a very questionable fold.
Of course, I could be complaining just because I know all this and these guys kicked me out of the commentators’ nook because one of them didn’t want someone looking over his shoulder. Based on what these guys are saying, I think they should be more concerned about someone LISTENING over their shoulders.
