#568 – No “Tilt” in the OJ Simpson Case

Posted by Michael Craig

I just read the news that OJ Simpson was convicted in that robbery case that involved the Palace Station, some of his memorabilia (including, I thought I once heard, the suit he was wearing when he was acquitted in his murder case, which has to qualify as ”ironic” on some level), and a group of “friends” who raced to sell their story to TV, tabloids, and tabloid-TV. Not surprisingly, several of them “flipped” at trial.

It’s probably now safe for me to tell my side of the story. That is, the Full Tilt side of the story.

I was meeting with someone from Full Tilt not long after OJ Simpson was charged in the robbery case. Apparently, one of the guys who went into that room with Simpson – who subsequently sold his story wherever he could and pled guilty and testified against OJ – approached someone connected with Full Tilt. The guy (or representatives on his behalf) asked whether Full Tilt would give him an endorsement deal. How much would Full Tilt pay if the guy did interviews and testified at trial wearing the Full Tilt logo?

I know people complain about the number of red pros on Full Tilt: Who’s that guy? I never heard of that woman? What’s he ever done? Etc. etc. etc. But no matter what lengths you think Full Tilt will go for exposure, it will not go to significant depths. As far as I know, Full Tilt never seriously considered the idea.
