#583 – BlogChild of Thursday, November 6 – Part I

Posted by Michael Craig

I’ll be skipping out on tonight’s FTOPS Event, $500 + $35 NLHE-Shootout. It’s one of my favorite events but it’s my son Barry’s 19th birthday and we’re picking him up at ASU and taking him to dinner. (Beats buying an expensive gift, right?) In fact, I’ll be a no-show for most of the next several days. On Saturday, I’m participating in a walk against breast cancer, then driving to Vegas, where I’ll be table-side reporting to you on what happens at the final table of the World Series Main Event. Hopefully, by the time next Tuesday’s FTOPS events ($500 + $35 HORSE and $200 + $16 NLHE-Turbo) start up, the following will have happened:

(A) We will have a new Poker World Champion;

(B) I will have provided you with several fascinating scenes from the action;

(C) I will have announced winners in all three of my essay contests, awarded a pair of $200 + $16 entries to the FTOPS Turbo event and one $216 cash-game bankroll prize, and started filling you in on the best essays and some of the others.

(D) I will race across the 300 miles separating the Rio from the computer in my office in time to cast my lot in that juicy pair of FTOPS events; and

(E) I can submerge myself in online poker for the rest of FTOPS.

It’s a tall order. In the meantime, the world is not standing still. Far from it. Here are several essential – and I mean ESSENTIAL – items about which you must be made aware:

Free Money

My three essay contests are getting ready to close. For the links to the three contests and the rules, look at Blog #582. I’m extending the deadlines on contests 3A and 3B (Cash Game Killer and Tournament Star), from midnight tonight (Thursday) to midnight Friday. I won’t get to judging before then so I’ll give you the benefit of additional time to enter.
