#630 – The Tom Dwan Challenge – Hopefully, Part I of Many
My assistant Shauna is harping on me endlessly to get a blog done today. Because Shauna is real smart and real pushy and a great assistant (and, as I think I mentioned before, she resembles Sandra Bullock), I try to give her what she wants. And today, as I have struggled getting through another blog (that I hope will appear shortly after this one) she keeps asking me, “What about Don Juan?”
Sorry Tom Dwan but that’s you.
Tom Dwan (better known online as durrrr, and possibly in the future better known as Don Juan) recently made a challenge to anyone in the world (except for his friend Phil Galfond): 50,000 hands heads-up, no-limit hold-em or pot limit Omaha, $200-$400 stakes, minimum of four tables. If Dwan’s challenger is ahead after 50,000 hands, Dwan will pay him $1.5 million. But if Dwan is ahead, the challenger will pay him just 1/3 of that amount, $500,000.
Phil Ivey has stepped forward to challenge Dwan. I will try to follow this story and report any unique details I can uncover even though Shauna will be leaving for a month with her boyfriend in Australia. She made me promise you at least that much.

I would love to hear the outcome of this match. I would have to say Ivey, just due to the prize pool. How could he let 1.5 mil slip away. Pretty sure he has the bank roll (duh) and the where with all when going heads up.
Best of luck (other wise known as skill to the pros) Ivey and would some day like to meet team full tilt and be able to play with/for/ or against them.
