#661 – News from the Michael Craig Desk, Part VII – Final Edition

Posted by Michael Craig

In the midst of all my strange goings-on of the last week, I haven’t been able to fill you in on several personal pieces of news. Because I’m also struggling to complete 2-3 intructional blogs I think you’ll find interesting, let me just give you a summary:

1. This week marks the second anniversary of The Full Tilt Poker Blog by Michael Craig. Just to give you an idea of what this means, picture the longest novel you’ve ever read. The 660 entries of this blog have been longer. Longer – not better, mind you, though a couple entries have been close – than The Brothers Karamazov, longer than Don Quixote, longer than War and Peace. If I get time – big if – I’ll try to think of something to commemorate the anniversary, at least offer you links to what I think has been my best writing over the past two years.

2. This week marks the third anniversary of Andy Beal’s games with the high-stakes pros at the Wynn in Las Vegas. Like in 2006, it was marked by an unsatisfactory result in a Super Bowl in which the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the combatants.

3. I am marking the start of FTOPS XI in an uncharacteristic way: by fleeing. I’ll play the first event on Wednesday, but then I’ll be going to a famous spa in Tucson with Jo Anne, to commune with nature and practice mindful living. Then I’ll return and wipe of the floor with alls of ya.

4. Two magazines recently featured profiles of me: Ante-Up magazine, November 2008 [the link is to a pdf of the magazine, the article is on pages 45-46]; and Poker Pro magazine, December 2008 [I believe it's in the European as well as the North American version].

5. Full Tilt is having me back for the 2009 World Series of Poker. That doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t fire me for some other reason before that time, so it’s 50/50, but at least that’s the plan. And who knows? Maybe with my new I-care-about-this-job attitude, the chances might be even greater.
