#675 – Dwan v. Antonius Heads-Up – Update #1
The Tom Dwan Challenge is underway. Dwan and his first challenger, Patrik Antonius, are almost 4,000 hands into their 50,000-hand match. Dwan has drawn first blood, taking a lead of $150,000. (This could be looked at as an edge of 1.5% for Tom, as the total amount of all the pots has been $22 million.) Full Tilt is offering some incredible coverage of the match on its durrrr v. Antonius page.
According to the tech dudes at Full Tilt (who are so much smarter than government scientists that they figured out that business about whether Pluto was a planet years ago), here are some of the features of the site’s coverage of the match:
· All data is pulled directly from the game with a one minute lag after the hand happens
· We have it all automated to track everything, including by session and time.
· The replays are generated on the fly from the game data. (That’s right: hand replays of the biggest hands!)
· Live graphing, from the game data (1 min lag).
· The box top right (durrrr is not at any tables) refreshes with links to the tables they are actually at if they are playing the challenge. In other words, you will see links on the web page which if you click them, automatically opens the fulltiltpoker software (if you have it installed) and takes you to the specific table.
· All of these items were tests and are laying the foundation for a ton of really cool functionality going forward.
So you’ll be able to keep up with Tom Dwan’s heads-up matches against the biggest money players in the world for the highest stakes online. I’ll be summarizing the action in this spaced as well, and trying to provide some additional content. For instance, I’ll try to post links from some of my prior coverage of Tom and Patrik from the 2007 and 2008 Million Dollar Cash Games.
So stay tuned.
