#690 – NBC Heads-Up Championship #11 – Durrrr & Blur, Part B – Clubs Bracket
Paul Wasicka over Nicholas Joy – Joy, a Full Tilt online qualifier came achingly close to finishing off the 2007 champion.
Don Cheadle over David Pham – Cheadle is an excellent player, very serious, and a dragon slayer.
Phil Ivey over Jennifer Tilly – When I saw Phil, I said, ‘Geez Phil, you look terrific. You lose a bunch of weight?” He shrugged, “A little.” The guy doesn’t give anything away. I’ll have to tell Ted Forrest my undercover information-gathering mission ended in failure.
Dario Minieri over Mike Matusow – This match was delayed a half hour because Mike didn’t have his eyeglasses. Daniel Negreanu, playing Chris Moneymaker at the feature table, found this out and yelled over, “You couldn’t play any worse blind. You’ve played with glasses for four years and haven’t come close to winning. What difference does it make?” It was a long match, and a close match, and Dario, a huge talent who looks like an extra from a Hogwarts scene in the first Harry Potter movie, moves on.
Ted Forrest over Orel Hershiser – This was a rematch of a first-round upset last year, and Forrest set things right, losing 15% of his chips on the first hand, rebounding to take a lead, and never losing it. [Orel, if you're reading this, what happened to the autographed baseball you promised me? E-mail me at mrchaotic@aol.com. Otherwise, I'll have to devote a blog to this and veteran readers of this blog know there is no limit to my whiny pettiness.]
Vanessa Rousso over Doyle Brunson – Vanessa is a new Go Daddy girl, and CEO Richard Parsons and several others sat behind her for the match. After she won, they rushed over to congratulate her, and the group left. Mike Matusow, also newly signed by Go Daddy, had to soldier on without their support.
Scotty Nguyen over Hevad Khad
Daniel Negreanu over Chris Moneymaker
