#723 – If I Had a Brain in My Head, I Would Boycott FTOPS XII

The schedule for FTOPS XII (May 6-May 17) is now in place. If I wasn’t so broke – especially due to the role FTOPS I-XI played in my brokeness – I would probably be excited. There is more guaranteed money than ever, a great variety of events, lots of superstack events, and even a group of companion events, Mini-FTOPS, running on an identical schedule with 1/10th the buy-ins. But instead, I’m thinking of boycotting out of protest.

Because everyone else in the Full Tilt universe seems to do well in these events, here is the schedule for FTOPS XII:

How many tens of thousands of dollars would I have if Full Tilt had never started FTOPS? Maybe I would have money for the World Series. Maybe I’d have money for a shiny new Mercedes. Depressingly, maybe I’d have money for both. Many a hot streak for me has come to an end during FTOPS. And on occasions when I haven’t been running well, FTOPS became a graveyard. The only good news about my current impoverished state is that I won’t have to willingly flush money down the FTOPS toilet. Ha! They can’t get blood from a stone. This cash cow has been milked dry.

Almost to anticipate this, Full Tilt has come up with a companion tournamnet series, Mini-FTOPS. The Mini-FTOPS events mirror the FTOPS events but start five minutes later and generally have a buy-in of 1/10th of the corresponding FTOPS event. For everybody but me, it looks like a great series of tournaments, affordable to an even wider group of players. (Both FTOPS and Mini-FTOPS also have satellite tournaments running around the clock.) To me, it looks I’m jumping out the window of a lower floor of the same building.
