#764 – 2009 WSOP #22 – Seen & Heard #7 – I Promised Howard Lederer I Wouldn’t Have Sex with his Wife
Howard and Susie Lederer were having that discussion that all married couples have about The Celebrity Exception. You know, the single person each spouse can exempt from their vows of marital fidelity. In this particular discussion, I never found out who Howard’s celebrity exception is, and maybe Susie didn’t even find out.
Because Susie dropped a bombshell with her celebrity exception.
“Michael Craig,” she told him.
“WHAAAAAT?!?!”
“He’s so sexy. I just loved him in the last two James Bond movies …. Oh, wait. Daniel. DANIEL Craig.”
Susie told me this story at McFadden’s the Irish pub at which Andy Bloch celebrated his 40th birthday at the start of the Series. I told her, “I appreciate you telling me this story. But in the future, when you tell it, would you mind omitting the last two sentences?”
When Howard arrived later in the evening, I sidled up to him at the buffet and said, “Susie told me how I was her celebrity exception. But don’t worry. We’ve been friends a long time and, no matter how difficult it is for me or Susie, I won’t let something like that come between us.” He blinked, uncomprehending. “It’s cool. Just a favor from one friend to another.”
