Congratulations to Greg Mueller on a much-deserved World Series of Poker gold bracelet for winning the $10,000 LHE World Championship on Wednesday night. I met Greg at the 2007 Series after he came so close to the bracelet in the $5,000 Mixed Hold ‘Em, the first full-field event. It seemed everytime I saw him after that, he was going deep, but he didn’t get another chance like that one. In 2008, he again played masterfully at the final table and was heads-up with the chip lead for the bracelet. Again, it slipped away. This year, he made the final tabe in the $10,000 Stud World Championship and nursed his small stack for all it was worth, but couldn’t find the magic.
Finally, in Limit Hold ‘Em, Greg slayed the beast. In a topsy-turvey final table that saw him in the back of the pack, with the chip lead, and everywhere in between. He battled for twelve hours until winning his first of what should be several WSOP gold bracelets.
Congratulations Greg! (It’s about time!)
