#868 – You Own Ivey

Posted by Michael Craig

Who doesn’t wish they could have a piece of Phil Ivey’s action? Full Tilt is offering you all a chance for a piece of Phil Ivey’s Main Event money in their new promotion, charmingly titled “Piece of Ivey.”  Of course, because I’m Mr. Insider, these kinds of opportunities come to me all the time. In fact, I’ve already had a piece of Phil Ivey’s Main Event action.

In the Full Tilt suite during a break on Day 1B of the Main Event, I walked by Phil Ivey as he was talking on his cell phone and trying to get noise-cancelling Bose headphones to work. “Does somebody have battery?”

Because I am, alone among poker players, fastidious about my accessories and prepared for all situations, I had the needed AAA battery. As Ivey inserted it in the headphones, I decided to make the most of my moment. “I get five percent of you now, right?”

“Ten percent.”

“No way Phil. I want five percent and not – oh wait. Never mind, ten will be fine.”

But it’s all about timing. That was the Main event of 2006, not 2009. Ten percent of zero is worth the same as five percent of zero. So, like you, I’m signing up for a piece of Ivey on Full Tilt.

(That was a long time ago, 2006. Poker was so big that PAMELA ANDERSON launched an online poker site. And I was a young pup of 47, carrying my own batteries and remembering that I carried them. Since then, Ivey has made the final table, Pam has shed another husband, and I have to rely on Shauna for batteries and nearly everything else. On those rare occasions when she doesn’t come through, disaster follows. See Blog entries ## 851, 852, 853.)

There are three ways in which you can win a piece of Phil Ivey. The two most important things you need to know are (a) it doesn’t cost anything and (b) you have to sign up. You sign up by going to the Full Tilt cashier and pressing the “My Promotions” button. This leads you to a webpage listing several Full Tilt promotions. Press the link to the “Piece of Ivey” page and then press the button that says “Register”. Now you’re ready to run like Ivey.

5% of Ivey

The top prize at this year’s WSOP Main Event is $8.5 million. Play for your chance to win a seat in a special nine-player Sit & Go, where prize money equal to 5% of Phil Ivey’s Main Event winnings is up for grabs.

On Friday, November 6 at 10:00 ET Full Tilt will hold a drawing awarding seats in a nine-player Sit & Go. The Sit & Go itself will take place on Saturday November 7 at 14:00 ET. The winner receives 3% of Phil’s Main Event winnings. Second and third place each receive 1%. You earn chances in the drawing much like you earn Full Tilt points, by playing in ring games, tournaments, and Sit & Gos.

1% of Ivey

Win a seat in an exclusive Freeroll to play for your share of a $50,000 prize pool. In addition to first-place prize money, the winner will be awarded prize money equal to 1% of Phil Ivey’s Main Event winnings.

On Friday, November 6 at 10:00 ET, Full Tilt Poker will hold a drawing awarding seats to a $50K Freeroll where the winner will take home an amount equal to 1% of Phil’s Main Event winnings on top of first-place prize money. The Freeroll itself will take place Saturday, November 7 at 14:00 ET. You earn chances in the drawing much like you earn Full Tilt points, by playing in ring games, tournaments, and Sit & Gos.

Daily Cash Draw

We’re celebrating Phil Ivey’s performance at this Year’s WSOP by giving away over $150K in cash drawings. Win one of more than 600 cash prizes awarded each day from October 8th through November 5th.

Each day at 10:00 ET, Full Tilt will draw over 600 “tickets”. The holder of each ticket wins between $5 and $100.  You earn tickets like Full Tilt points, and the same tickets are entered in all three contests.

Of course, all these contests are subject to Full Tilt’s rules, so read them as well.
