Just like last year, Jo Anne and I will be closely involved in the Scottsdale Relay for Life, a charity of the American Cancer Society. The Scottsdale Relay will be April 10, 2010 at Saguaro High School. We will meet from 6pm until 6am the next morning and walk around the Saguaro track, raising money to stop cancer and to remind people that cancer never sleeps.

Full Tilt has been nice enough to let me host a private tournament in which it will donate the entire rake to our Relay. The tournament is now on the schedule for Sunday, November 22, at 18:00 ET. It is a $5 + $5 NLHE tournament and the password is “relay”. Many friends of the blog and online communities have been particularly helpful with this tournament in the past. Railbirds.com has promoted the event. And my friends at Dublin Bellybusters and badbeatspoker.net have also participated heavily and last year’s winner, Dr. Fill Good donated all his winnings to Relay. The Dublin group also challenged me to a series of heads-up matches with the loser (which turned out to be them) making an additional donation.

So please sign up and encourage members of your online community or poker forum to promote and play in the event. If you have any questions or there is anything I can do to help your group promote the tournament, please leave a comment or email me at mrchaotic@aol.com.

Before playing this tourney – can you tell me how much research you have done into the dietary effects on cancer. A lot of research seems to indicate that cutting out dairy and a lot of animal protein from your diet can reverse and/or eliminate cancer.

On the other hand – large pharma companies would tend to bias their research towards drugs that can extend the life of cancer patients without curing, therefore getting a ‘customer’ for life.

As an aside – I really don’t understand why cancer is such a special area – the company that first makes a drug to combat cancer will rake in huge profits for decades, why is this not incentive enough for them to research anyway?
