Bugatti Veyron #890 WSOP Final Table Update #1 Spoils of War

I received a copy of a message that appeared on someone’s Facebook status yesterday. This person, who we’ll call Lucy, updated her status as “Looking for Bugatti Veyron 16.4, another day in the life of my job.” Anybody reading this would have one of two questions: (1) What is a Bugatti Veyron 16.4? and (2) Who is it for?

Lucy explained that the Bugatti is “an exotic car. I have to rent it for the day with the possibility of buying it (not for me obviously haha), for a poker player if he wins a tournament. But I am finding it hard to rent because it’s like a 2 million dollar car. p.s. – Half the people I talk to laugh at me and don’t think I’m serious! And I am serious! Haha.”

What poker player could Lucy be working for? It seems we have the clues to figure this out: expensive car, poker player, winning a poker tournament.

It should be obvious.

Lucy clearly works in some capacity for Darvin Moon, the 46 year-old self-employed logger from Maryland. He’s from out-of-town so he’s going to need a rental car in Vegas this weekend. He’s the chip leader at the WSOP Final Table so there is a chance he could win. According to the WSOP Final Table Media Guide, his “first time on a jet plane was when he came to Las Vegas to play in this tournament.” He’ll probably feel more comfortable driving home than flying and wants a nice car, or just needs new wheels. The Media Guide also says, “He doesn’t own a computer or have an email address”, which means he needs somebody like Lucy to look these things up.

So that’s an exclusive and you read it here first.

Or, you know, it could be for Phil Ivey. Though I suppose he could rent one anytime he wanted.

That little car costs approx $1.5 mill. So winning a regular WSOP event bracelet will not guarantee you can buy such beauty :)

Marius: That’s why I think it’s Dar Moon. He didn’t waste his time trying to win $1.5 million by playing “preliminary” events. He waited until the Main Event to make his play for the car.
