philgordon1 #937 Why I Will Never Be as Smart as Phil Gordon

[This is an actual e-mail that I sent today to Phil Gordon.]

Dear Phil and Barb,

Congratulations on the birth of your second son Zachary. We just received the holiday pictures and he and Xander look adorable.

Zachary’s birth will always be especially memorable for me because it occurred on December 14, the day of my 51st birthday. My kids have been harping on me about how I should have convinced you to name him Michael.

I tell them, “that’s ridiculous,” but the main reason is because I didn’t think about it at the time. “Besides” I explain, “that’s not the way to get Phil Gordon to do something. If I REALLY wanted Phil and Barb to name their second son for me, I’d have to say, ‘I bet you $1,000 that you WON’T name your son Michael.’” Only with the risk of losing a bet could I have any chance of influencing your behavior.

In fact, I’m out of my league even imagining gambling propositions with a professional at your level. My daughter Valerie just pointed out to me that I’d already lost this imaginary bet. She saw your holiday pictures and turned one over, noting that you have named the most recent addition to your family “Zachary Michael Gordon.”

I’ll take that coincidence as a compliment, in future years telling people that you named him for me and telling you to wish “my godson” happy birthday. More important, I’ll take it as a warning: one of the biggest mistakes I could make would be even THINKING about betting against Phil Gordon.

Happy holidays and congratulations,

Michael

Dear sir, perhaps you could submit a question to the management of full tilt pertaining to the freerolls. That question is as follows; Why are the freerolls always it seems either 10k or 7500 entrys? Why not say put a 5k cap on all of them and just run additional games? My question derivies from many attempts at them going very deep within 100 to go and then get a cooler and be crippled to be blinded out short of the money.
