FTOPS XV starts tomorrow, Wednesday February 10.  It is going to be big, so big that I’m thinking of cancelling a trip I was planning to the LA Poker Classic so I can report on the festivities . . . and, okay, play an event or twelve.

The first event, $200 + $16 NLHE, will be hosted by Erik Seidel and starts at 21:00 ET. Based on the $1,000,000 guarantee, Full Tilt is expecting at least 5,000 people for this Wednesday night event. And remarkably, they’re probably going to surpass that figure easily.

This is my likely playing strategy for FTOP XV. I am going to focus on the Limit events, including the following:

  • Event #5, Friday, February 12, 21:00 ET, $200 + $16 LHE – 6
  • Event #11, Monday, February 15, 14:00 ET, $200 + $16 OEOB
  • Event #14, Tuesday, February 16, 21:00 ET, $500 + $35 HORSE
  • Event #16, Wednesday, February 17, 14:00 ET, $200 + $16 7-Game-Mix
  • Event #19, Thursday, February 18, 21:00 ET, $200 + $16 Seven Card Stud
  • Event #21, Friday, February 19, 21:00 ET, $300 +$22 Razz

I will also try and play some of the NLHE events, like the first one, the Sunday KO, the big Sunday afternoon $1.5 million guarantee, next Tuesday’s $200 + $16 Turbo, and the Main Event on Sunday February 21.

I’m going to increase my efforts at providing innovative FTOPS coverage. I will be reporting results, statistics, and details out of the pro chats. I will also try to do some reporting on some big names and some final tables. But I have to confess, I will be making it up as I go along. It’s so difficult to figure out HOW to cover an online poker tournament that I never know exactly how to approach it.

In fact, if you would like to make a suggestion about how I should cover FTOPS or want to participate on some aspect of the coverage (like agreeing to let me contact you while you are deep in an event or offering some of your own commentary) let me know in a comment below or, if it’s more appropriate, email me at mrchaotic@aol.com. I can’t promise you riches or fame but I can promise you . . . that I can’t promise you riches or fame.

May I suggest you delegate some of the work…

You have friends on several forums and many of them like to write a bit about their poker experiences…

How about you hand-pick half a dozen grinders (find a diverse groups from different age-groups, genders and nationalities) and ask them to write an ongoing blog about each of the events that they plan to play – they can send their scribblings to you either during or at the end of their game and you can compile them together to give the readers of your blog some perspective on a range of different outlooks from some of the unsung warriors of online poker.

Perhaps you could throw in the added incentive of a tourney buy-in or something fun (ala your old competitions) for the best contributor.

I played 2 events so far, no results but the fields are huge and so much money to be made going to play a few more.
