Like over 5,000 others on Wednesday night, I began my attempt to cash in on the FTOPS XV action. Because, unlike almost everybody else, I have to write about the experience (both as participant and reporter), I was taking frantic notes. (In fact, I jumped the gun by a couple of hours, carefully writing down my experiences in the satellites leading to Event #1 and opening the Pro Chat box so I could catch every cagey word of host Erik Seidel.) I am always at a loss on how to cover an online tournament.

FTOPS XV starts tomorrow, Wednesday February 10.  It is going to be big, so big that I’m thinking of cancelling a trip I was planning to the LA Poker Classic so I can report on the festivities . . . and, okay, play an event or twelve.

I wanted to thank everybody who participated in last Sunday’s Relay for Life Charity Tournament on Full Tilt. Thanks to you I raised another $820 for the Scottsdale Relay, all of which will go to the American Cancer Society. In particular, thanks to the people who publicized the tournament in their forums and online communities, and to pros Andy Bloch, Berry Johnston, Brian Townsend, Cyndy Violette, Frank Thompson, Gabriela Hill, Mandy Baker, Roberto Romanello, and Steve Zolotow.

big stack 07 nlhe #960 My Third Anniversary – A Fast Look Back

On Tuesday, February 2, I celebrated my third anniversary of producing the Full Tilt Poker Blog by Michael Craig. If you look back in the archive, you will see the very first post, “The Playboy of Full Tilt,” dated February 2, 2007. I had no idea I would have the blog this long, write this much, or do this much. It has been a wonderful and often startling experience. But the foundation for all that appeared in my very first post.

HL thinking+ #958 Three Parables on Bankroll Management, Part III

PARABLE #3 – THE LEDERER PERSPECTIVE

Howard Lederer would seem the perfect person to mediate between the Ferguson and Straus approaches. He is extremely smart and introspective and had the benefit of obtaining a lot of his post-graduate-equivalent brains on the streets.

PARABLE #2 – HIGH-STAKES LIFE

I really regret never having met Jack Straus. Straus, a contemporary of Doyle Brunson and a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, is known to me primarily from the stories written and told by Al Alvarez and Anthony Holden.

Chris12 #957 Three Parables on Bankroll Management, Part I

Because I have needed to withdraw substantial amounts from my Full Tilt account these last few months (and because I haven’t been winning much), I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on bankroll management – playing lower, exercising patience, and generally at least simulating the condition of not having the money to play big.
