TedMike1a Ted Forrest: I Wanted To Show That The Impossible Was Possible #1109 2010 WSOP #90

At 7:14pm, on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, Ted Forrest won one of the biggest bets in the history of wagering when he stepped on a scale on the stage at the Pavilion Room at the Rio Convention Center in Las Vegas and the number staring back at him was 138.0 pounds. The moment was numbing: exciting, exhilarating, alarming, anticlamactic. But Forrest swears he didn’t do it for the two million dollars. “Somebody I care about very much needed to see that the impossible is possible.”

I just finished spending 3 1/2 hours with Ted, his girlfriend Pui, his trainer Mike Santoro, and Mike Matusow. I’m going to write up as much of it as I can, as fast as I can.

As soon as I get something to eat.

See below for the picture of Ted on the scale. I was alarmed when I saw him there.

He looked better (healthier even) at 188 pounds. He needs to gain about 20 of it back.

for those that say they could lose too if they take that bet… lol. the truth is you could lose the weight now, expect no reward, and see drastic positive changes in other areas of your life besides your body. That’s worth more than a few million.

so are you gonna take that bet with yourself?

A buddy and I had a $100 bet last year to see who could Lise the most in 2 months. We both started at 240. I lost 45 and he lost 52 lbs. I didn’t even work out, just ate smart, a lot of protein and fiber and low carbs. Very easy to lose 50 lbs in 70 days like Ted did. May be a little tougher weighing less though, but still pretty easy.

5 pounds a week is not healthy. After 2 pounds a week you lose muscle. The heart is a muscle.

I remember reading about the bet between Ted and Mike a few months ago. At the time I thought there was no way Ted would ever win, he wasnt even fat. Amazingly he pulled it off and I’m still tipping the scales at the same 300+ lbs I weighed then.
Gastric bypass can be had for less than 10k. Would you spend $10,000 to win $2,000,000. Would Ted?

I think they had, as part of the bet, an agreement that Ted wouldn’t resort to surgery. They call that “The Chip Reese Clause”. That’s how he beat Howard Lederer out of a big weight bet, so now they specify such things.

I helped with Teds training and weight loss for the last 12 lbs. All of you who rag on his accomplishment should be ashamed of yourselves. Almost anyone who had the opportunity to win 2 million would take it especially if you knew for sure you could win. Ted worked very hard and did’t “starve” himself. High level athletes cut weight all the time. Ted just cut a little more.

Im curious as to the original weight that Ted was and was that weight “officially” gained. I read that it was done at dinner and their happened ot be a scale nearby?? Did he strip down to his shorts? was he fully clothed? Did he/could he have been wearing a 10-15-20lb vest under his clothes and he really didnt lose the weight he said he did?
    Just curios.

Ted weighed 188 when Mike Matusow and Justin Smith weighed him at the Commerce during the first week of May. There’s a health-club facility connected to the hotel that’s part of the Commerce, so that’s likely where they got the scale. I don’t know the conditions of the weigh-in but (a) 188 sounds like Ted’s correct weight, (b) Matusow and Smith didn’t arrive on a turnip truck with hay between their teeth – I’m sure they were careful of such things, and (c) the remarkable thing about this bet isn’t Ted’s STARTING weight – it’s his ENDING weight. I posted the pictures of him weighing in at the end, first at the Rio and then in Matusow’s laundry room.

@ tank. Dude you shouldn’t need 2M to want to loose weight @ 300 pounds. You should want to anyways because you’re going to die of a heart attack. 2M isn’t going to save you from that. And 2M can’t buy your life back
