This Sunday at 18:00 ET, just as the $750,000 Guarantee is starting, Full Tilt is holding a private tournament that I encourage you to join. A few years back, a young boy named Shaun Doss was in an automobile accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. The tournament is called “Shaun Doss Miracle” and can be found in the private tournament lobby or by pressing Control-t from the Main Lobby and entering tournament # 177449229. The password for the $5 + $5 tournament is “shaun”.
A lot of red pros will be in attendance. The second “$5″ will benefit the Shaun Doss Miracle Fund, which is raising money for him to undergo surgery at the Stem Cell Institute in Panama that may give him the chance to walk again. When I heard about Shaun’s story, my first thought was, “what a horrible tragedy – a seven-year old boy, unable to walk.” The tournament, however, isn’t just a chance to do something nice for someone victimized by a fate they didn’t choose. It’s a chance to celebrate the miracles of modern science, and provide an opportunity to be part of one of those miracles.
I hope you’ll sign up.

August 20th, 2010 at 3:11 pmThanks for this post! In checking to see if any BBOC or Autism benefits were coming up this month at Full Tilt, I noticed this game. Being a cynic and long-time journalist, I wondered if it was for real. The dozen red pros listed caught my eye as a strong endorsement. (Hope you can get Andy Bloch to play too, I really enjoyed sitting next to him live at the Lederers’ BBQ Benefit last month.) Your blog post confirms its realness, and verifies the truth in the very-appealling web page about Shaun. I’ll be there Sunday, and I’ll spread the word in my blog and forums. Wish Full Tilt better publicized these events (BBOC etc. too), perhaps in the Full Tilt press releases and newsletters, so the word would get around the poker netverse louder and quicker. Keep up the great work Michael…

August 21st, 2010 at 10:31 amFull Tilt is not very customer friendly. I sent a comment yesterday saying how great this tournament is, how good the cause is, and how I’d pass on the word, and thanking Michael for his participation. And you didn’t even have the courtesy to review and confirm the comment, just let it be erased with time expiration. Very unfriendly. I’ll not bother with trying to help Full Tilt in the future…
Dude, ease up. It says on my program that you sent your comment Friday afternoon. It’s now Saturday afternoon, less than 24 hours later. I know it SEEMS like I do nothing but obsess over the Blog but I occasionally visit my family, use the bathroom, sleep, even leave the house. This must be a misunderstanding, unless you’re one of those guys who thinks Rush SuperTurbos aren’t fast enough.
