Day 3 – Friday, June 18
At 2am on Friday, Chip Jett busted me in 31st place. If I was destined not to win the event – and with zero chips left and a Stromboli winding through my large intestine, it’s safe to say I was out of the running – Chip was one of my favorites. He has cashed 15 times at the WSOP since 2003 and twice finished as high as third place. In addition, with the memory of Karina’s unlucky fourth-place finish still fresh, a victory by Chip Jett might serve as evidence that, not only did the poker gods exist, but they were benevolent.

There is a giant gap between knowing the right way to play and playing right. This was never clearer to me than at the beginning of Day 2 of the $1,500 HORSE. For the first time at the 2010 Series I made it to Day 2, and I had a lot of chips. I didn’t see anyone at my table that concerned me, and most of the stacks were pretty short. So, on no provocation, during the first hour, I ran my chip stack from 26,000 to 9,000.

I never really saw Chip Jett during the first day of the $1,500 HORSE, but I knew he was there. I could, however, hear him.
