Full Tilt Pros Pony up 100k in inaugural WPT Super High Roller Tournament
29 players ponied up $100,000 to play in the first ever World Poker Tour Super High roller event. After day one 17 players remain, Vivek Rajkumar leading the Full Tilt representatives with 1,628,000 chips putting him in second place. Kicking at his heels is Erick Lindgren who sits with just 21,000 less in third place. A shortstacked Erik Seidel brings up the chip count rear but it would be foolish to discount the unofficial 2011 High Roller Master from yet another title this year.
First place will take home $1,092,780 for their efforts, play continues today. Follow updates on the World Poker Tour website.
Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger edges out Brian “Stinger885” Hastings in €5,000 Headsup at EPT Grand Final
Andrew Lichtenberger surged through a star studded field in the €5,000 No Limit Hold’em Headsup Championship at the EPT Grand Final in Madrid, Spain. Of the four spots paid Full Tilt Pros took 3 with James Akenhead losing to Brian Hastings in the Semi Finals earning €19,500.
Brian Hastings blogged about his trip over at CardRunners;
“It was on to the finals, where I faced off against Andrew Lichtenberger aka luckychewy. Andrew was the one player in the field whom I really didn’t want to face, as he has way more HUNL experience than me especially in the recent past. He beat me up pretty good in match 1, but I returned the favor in match 2. Match 3 went back and forth for a while before he took control and won it, and in match 4 I got grinded down before getting my last 4500 or so in with 99 vs AQ and losing. Andrew outplayed me and deserved to win, although he was the real fish because the next day he was supposed to go to El Bulli but slept in and missed his flight and couldn’t get there. What a beat! Anyway, I was very happy with my second place finish.”

Erik Seidel Tops All-Time Money List

A few months ago, Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu were trading spots at the top of poker’s all-time money list. Now, after just two and a half months and almost $4.5 million in earnings since the start of the new year, Erik Seidel now sits atop the list with $14,697,297 in tournament earnings. At the end of last year, Seidel was in 11th place on this list and was able to jump 10 spots to no. 1 during his torrid start to the year.
Other Full Tilt Pros in the top 20 of the list include Phil Ivey (third), John Juanda (sixth), Allen Cunningham (tenth), Carlos Mortensen (12th), and Chris Ferguson (20th).
Several Full Tilt Pros Commit to Onyx Cup Series

Erik Seidel, John Juanda, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, and Chris Ferguson have committed Full Tilt’s newly launched Onyx Cup Series.
The Onyx Cup Series will consist of six “high roller” tournaments that will range in buy-ins between $100,000-$300,000. The locations have yet to be finalized, but the six events will take place in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The first five events will be considered preliminary events and the series will end with the $250,000 buy-in Onyx Cup Grand Finale, which will have $1 million added to the prize pool.
It is being estimated that there will be an overall prize pool of $30 million for the entire series. The series will also have a leaderboard system which will keep track of points for all six tournaments. The winner of the leaderboard will get the Onyx Cup Series trophy and will also be awarded a luxury sports car.
Ali Nejad sat down with a few Team Full Tilt Pros to ask them about the excitement around the upcoming series.
XWINK Continues Drawing Attention at Nosebleeds
The mysterious Canadian known as “XWINK” has continued to drive action at the nosebleed stakes on Full Tilt Poker. According to highstakesdb.com, he won $300,000 last Thursday playing $300/$600 and $500/$1000 PLO against Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey, and Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen.
XWINK followed up Thursdays win with a massive loss on Friday. Highstakesdb.com reports that the unknown Canadian lost $1 million playing $300/$600 and $500/$1000 PLO. The biggest winners from XWINK’s losses were Daniel “Jungleman12” Cates and “NoPasaran.” Cates won almost $340,000 and NoParasan won about $430,000. XWINK admitted to Cates in the chat that he was “so tilted it’s not even funny.” Highstakesdb has more of their chat dialog.

I had big dreams for this World Series. I‘ve played about forty events in the last three years and made three Final Tables. This year, I was counting on winning my seat to the Main Event on Full Tilt, getting $20,000 from Andy Bloch by winning my weight-loss bet, and round up whatever miscellaneous money I could and run it up in the satellite room for a bunch more buy-ins. You know what big dreams can turn into at the World Series of Poker? Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

[This is my final post in the series about the 2010 NBC Heads-Up Championship. NBC started broadcasting the matches two weeks ago, with an hour of coverage on April 18, following that up with two hours last Sunday, the 25th. Today and the following two Sundays (May 2, 9, and 16), you can see another two hours per week of the HUC. Broadcast coverage wraps up on NBC with three hours on Sunday, May 23. Following this post, I will write another entry helping you organize and access the posts, if you want to read them serially or in conjunction with the NBC schedule. Whether good or bad, I’d like to hear your comments about my coverage, both in general and in comparison with what you’re watching on NBC. You can post comments after the blog, or e-mail me at mrchaotic@aol.com. (I’d prefer you post your comments, but I just want to hear from you!)]

Annie Duke vs. Erik Seidel in the final? For me, it’s a dream match-up. Erik is part of Team Full Tilt and a friend of mine, so it’s good for business that he made the championship match. Because Seidel is such a sphinx, I regard myself an expert on him even though I don’t know all that much. The important thing is everyone else knows less. There must be a way that I can turn all this knowledge into money, or at least fame.

At 3:49pm on Sunday March 7 the cards were in the air for the semi-finals of the 2010 NBC Heads-Up Championship. Erik Seidel vs. Scotty Nguyen, Annie Duke vs. Dennis Phillips. At 3:54pm Scotty Nguyen, at the front featured table, noticed a cocktail waitress working in the adjacent poker room. He called out, “Cocktails!” Everybody on the set chuckled, except for the cocktail waitress, who had no idea what was going on, why people were laughing or what to do.

Scotty Nguyen defeated Jason Mercier to make the semi-finals. Erik Seidel won over Peter Eastgate, and the two will play for a spot in the finals. Nobody left in the tournament has seriously contended for the Heads-Up Championship before, but for me, it all seems like déjà vu.

While Phil Ivey had Scotty one card from near-elimination, Phil Gordon announced that he was all-in against Phil Laak. After Nguyen hit his miracle nine on the river, the cameras huddled around the other two Phils, after Laak made the call. Gordon showed K-5o, Laak Qs-9s. Gordon was marginally ahead, and that margin increased substantially after the flop of Kd-4c-Jc.
Worried now only about Laak’s gutshot draw, Gordon chanted “no ten, no ten,” as the dealer peeled off a harmless two of hearts on the turn.
The ten showed up on the river.
