Erik Seidel Tops All-Time Money List

A few months ago, Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu were trading spots at the top of poker’s all-time money list. Now, after just two and a half months and almost $4.5 million in earnings since the start of the new year, Erik Seidel now sits atop the list with $14,697,297 in tournament earnings. At the end of last year, Seidel was in 11th place on this list and was able to jump 10 spots to no. 1 during his torrid start to the year.
Other Full Tilt Pros in the top 20 of the list include Phil Ivey (third), John Juanda (sixth), Allen Cunningham (tenth), Carlos Mortensen (12th), and Chris Ferguson (20th).
Several Full Tilt Pros Commit to Onyx Cup Series

Erik Seidel, John Juanda, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, and Chris Ferguson have committed Full Tilt’s newly launched Onyx Cup Series.
The Onyx Cup Series will consist of six “high roller” tournaments that will range in buy-ins between $100,000-$300,000. The locations have yet to be finalized, but the six events will take place in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The first five events will be considered preliminary events and the series will end with the $250,000 buy-in Onyx Cup Grand Finale, which will have $1 million added to the prize pool.
It is being estimated that there will be an overall prize pool of $30 million for the entire series. The series will also have a leaderboard system which will keep track of points for all six tournaments. The winner of the leaderboard will get the Onyx Cup Series trophy and will also be awarded a luxury sports car.
Ali Nejad sat down with a few Team Full Tilt Pros to ask them about the excitement around the upcoming series.
XWINK Continues Drawing Attention at Nosebleeds
The mysterious Canadian known as “XWINK” has continued to drive action at the nosebleed stakes on Full Tilt Poker. According to highstakesdb.com, he won $300,000 last Thursday playing $300/$600 and $500/$1000 PLO against Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey, and Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen.
XWINK followed up Thursdays win with a massive loss on Friday. Highstakesdb.com reports that the unknown Canadian lost $1 million playing $300/$600 and $500/$1000 PLO. The biggest winners from XWINK’s losses were Daniel “Jungleman12” Cates and “NoPasaran.” Cates won almost $340,000 and NoParasan won about $430,000. XWINK admitted to Cates in the chat that he was “so tilted it’s not even funny.” Highstakesdb has more of their chat dialog.

I just read the news that OJ Simpson was convicted in that robbery case that involved the Palace Station, some of his memorabilia (including, I thought I once heard, the suit he was wearing when he was acquitted in his murder case, which has to qualify as ”ironic” on some level), and a group of “friends” who raced to sell their story to TV, tabloids, and tabloid-TV. Not surprisingly, several of them “flipped” at trial.
It’s probably now safe for me to tell my side of the story. That is, the Full Tilt side of the story.

My apologies for the lapse in correspondence. Things are about to get very busy for me and this Blog, busier than you could ever imagine. First, the Blog is going through some operational changes. These are taking some time to iron out. Second, I am preparing to go to London on Friday, September 12. From there, I will be writing about Full Tilt’s Million Pound Challenge, the Million Dollar Cash Game, One-on-One with Patrik Antonius, and I’ll be playing in and writing about the Second World Series of Poker-Europe.
I also have a secret to share.

This is the last part of my essay about the 2008 World Series of Poker. If I get a chance, I’ll review my notes from the Series and see if I have any other fun experiences to pass along. But otherwise, this is it for now.

This is the last part of my four-part essay on my observations about the 2008 World Series of Poker. Becuase of the length, I’m breaking it into two posts.

Apparently, I got some incorrect information and described last week’s ESPN installment of the World Series of Poker.
Whatever. Like, I was in Hawaii. I don’t even know if they get ESPN in Hawaii.

On Tuesday, August 5, ESPN continues its coverage of the 2008 World Series of Poker.
The first episode was a Tiltfest, with Andy Bloch leading nearly all the way, doubling up the short stacks, taking a couple tough losses, and surrendering the lead on a three-way all-in with 9-9 to Nenad Medic’s Q-Q. (Coming in third was Kaathy Liebert with 6-6 on the hand.) Nenad, a Full Tilt pro, took the bracelet and Patrik Antonius, in his first World Series event with Team Full Tilt, finished 7th; Chris Bell, wearing the colors, finished 6th.
Get ready for more on Tuesday. Event #2 was the biggest tournament outside the Main Event in World Series history, with nearly 4,000 starters. Guess who turned water into wine for 3 days and made the final table?

[written June 4 a.m.]
I’ve been at the World Series just five days and I already think I need to leave town for the good of my health. Not that it’s been a bad 70-percent-of-a-week: I earned over $12,000 in my second event, finishing 26th in the $5,000 Mixed Hold ‘Em yesterday; Jo Anne and I spent two days alone together, which I’m referring to as our fourth honeymoon (before I sent here home, as Las Vegas is no kind of place for someone you care about); my friends Andy Bloch and Chris Ferguson finished second and third in the first two events; and Howard Lederer has made the final table in the Mixed Hold ‘Em.
That’s how it looks on the outside. Pull back the bedclothes, though, and it’s another sight entirely.
