It’s 9 PM and the players are on a short break as they change the tape. Uncle Tilty leaned into me at the break and whispered, “Ivey told me in that hand against Patrik, he flopped a set of nines.”

That’s what Uncle Tilty told me after a big pot between Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius at about 8:30 PM.

I’ve always had a sneaking suspicion there’s something foul in the London food, and now I’m nearly sure. Everybody came back from dinner a little edgy, a little out of sorts. Erik Seidel came back simply to announce he was done. Because he was being interviewed by a commentator who clearly had no idea of this, I think Erik decided this while he was talking to the guy.

I’m taking the dinner break at a burger place that advertises itself as “burgers and more.” I may consider hiring a solicitor to bring an action for false advertising. At 5:55 PM, the players broke for dinner. Between the Tony G-Phil Ivey confrontation and the break, there were just two substantial – for these guys – pots, both of which ended before the showdown.

At about 4:40 PM, Tony G and Phil Ivey got into it.
5h-3c-7h-Jc
On this board, Phil bet and Tony G went all-in. Ivey asked for a count. The dealer counted the chips. $94,400 more. Then Ivey asked three more times, I assume hoping that Tony G would say something or do something. But he had his elbows planted on the table, the lower half of his face obscured by his hands, and his eyes were fixed downward.

Andy Bloch $79,000
Chris Ferguson $152,100

Patrik Antonius $147,000
Erick Lindgren $144,700

Allen Cunningham has not been heard from much in this game. I don’t even think I heard him talk when Erick Lindgren made fun of him for taking his dog on vacation. (In fairness to Allen, it should be noted that he and Melissa Hayden rented a house in Santa Monica for six weeks. Why keep a dog if you’re going to move residences for six weeks and not bring the dog?)

Chris Ferguson has come to life! At 3:15 PM, as I was making the last post, they played a $70,000 pot. Chris raised to $1,800 and was called by Erick Lindgren and Tony G – I think Erick and Tony were in the blinds. Tony led out with a $4,000 bet after a flop of 9-7-5. Chris called, Erick folded. After a nine on the turn, Tony checked, Chris bet $9,000 and Tony called. Chris bet $20,000 on the river and Tony called. Chris showed A-9 to take it. Tony claimed he had 9-8. I wonder ….

OK, there IS an Andy Bloch golf-betting story making the rounds. In fact, it involves Andy Bloch AND Chris Ferguson on the golf course. They’ve both taken up the game recently, because one of them got an opportunity to get some lessons and they decided to take them together.
