Shauna1 Learn, Chat, and Play … With Shauna? #1104 – 2010 WSOP #85

I first got the idea that Shauna should play the WSOP Media Event a few weeks ago when I received an email from Seth Palansky issuing an invitation to play on Sunday, July 11. I forwarded it to Shauna with a note suggesting that it might be fun if she played and I reported on what would be her first-ever poker tournament.

Pizzabox2 “Leave the HORSE, Take the Stromboli”, Part VII, Loser Food #1101 – 2010 WSOP #82

If I wrote this story on the pizza box in the middle of the night, you can assume it’s not a happy story.

Sitting in my car at 2 AM outside the Rio Convention Center, still reeling from busting out of the tournament, I realized I had eaten almost nothing for two days. So what better time than that to have my first slice of pizza in six months? Even though Las Vegas is supposed to be a “24-hour town,” unless you want to go to a casino coffee shop, your options in the middle of the night are limited.

There is a giant gap between knowing the right way to play and playing right. This was never clearer to me than at the beginning of Day 2 of the $1,500 HORSE. For the first time at the 2010 Series I made it to Day 2, and I had a lot of chips. I didn’t see anyone at my table that concerned me, and most of the stacks were pretty short. So, on no provocation, during the first hour, I ran my chip stack from 26,000 to 9,000.

ME me1 Apologies & Resumption – The Poker Parable “Leave the HORSE, Take the Stromboli” #1099 – 2010 WSOP #80

See, I’m obviously not a nut case: hardly any chips in front of me, only moments left to play in the Main Event, and I have that gigantic smile pasted on my face!

measleep Leaving Las Vegas ... for a Day #1095 2010 WSOP #76

This is part-confession, part-apology. Day 1-A of the Main Event starts in exactly six minutes. This post will be short because, at the moment Sasquatch or Wayne Newton or whoever says “shuffle up and deal,” I want to be in my car, driving away from Las Vegas.
