The big story in poker this week was the introduction of S 3018 in the United States Senate: the Bipartisan Tax Fairness and Simplification Act, which seeks to restructure US tax code, as well as regulate and tax internet gambling.
Poker Law: The proposal from Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Judd Greg (R-NH) incorporates language from two House bills: Barney Frank’s (D-MA) Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act; and Jim McDermott’s (D-WA) bill – the Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act – which would tax licensed online gambling sites at 2% of deposits.
Just north in Canada: Ontario’s provincial leaders are now officially looking into regulating and taxing online gambling to help plug a $25b budget deficit. Quebec earlier announced plans to create its own provincial online poker and gambling site.

Isildur1 had a rough week, dropping $392k in 10,481 hands since February 22 (according to pokertableratings.com). He spent the majority of his time at heads up, $100/$200 NLH, though his most profitable session came at a $200/$400 PLO 6-max where he cleared just under $60k in only 24 hands.
Since February 13, Isildur1 is up $429k.

The Full Tilt Poker Academy has some new instruction:
Chris Ferguson plays a $160 Super Turbo NLH tournament and lets you in on his thought process in a tournament where you only start with 10 big blinds. Standard MTT players could also benefit from Jesus’s newest video, as much of it applies to playing shortstacked in general.
Bill Edler has a new lesson called “Interpreting Bet Sizes” in which he shares his experience in reading hands based on your opponent’s bet size in NLH. Edler covers pre-flop, flop, turn, and river betting patterns, and provides suggestions for adjusting your play accordingly.
All you need is a free Full Tilt account to watch.
