In an ongoing attempt to highlight some of our online qualifiers, I bring you one of the more successful players you might have heard very little about.
Chris “boNeZee” Bonita is no stranger to online poker success after he began playing 3 years ago on Full Tilt Poker. The Winthrop, MA native has won over $700,000 on FTP between cashes and satellites since 2006 including two victories in the $75,000 Guarantee in the last two months. His biggest single online cash to date was a near FTOPS jersey experience, finishing second in FTOPS XI Event #19 for just a few bucks under $40,000. This spring he added not one, but two World Series of Poker Main Event seat packages to his bankroll via Full Tilt.
Before this year, Bonita also had some success in live poker also. He has over $300,000 in live tournament cashes and several final tables in various events. Before the 2009 World Series of Poker, his biggest accomplishment was finishing runner up was a runner up finish in a WSOP Circuit event in San Diego. His biggest live score was a final table appearance during the 2007 WPT No Limit Hold’em Championship Bellagio Cup for over $72,000.
It was at this year’s WSOP where he found his first 6-digit payday. 2,818 players entered the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event #54 and he outlasted all but 5 other players for his first WSOP final table and second cash of the year. He took home $117,000 for his efforts and brings tremendous confidence to the Main Event.
Bonita successfully navigated his first day in the Main Event and will head into Day 2b sitting on 45,225 chips.
