Today will be busy for your man on the rail because there are several events rolling into Day 3 full of you favorite pros with a chance at a bracelet. That doesn’t include Day 2 of the $10,000 Omaha/8 Championship which will keep me hopping on it’s own. There are also a few players from my side of the U.S. running deep.
The players in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Event #15 were not happy campers at 3am when they found out the restart was scheduled for just a few hours later today at noon. There are 17 players remaining and they will play down to the final 9 and move to the ESPN feature table for broadcast on ESPN360.com. Still alive in this field are David “The Dragon” Pham*, Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers, Thomas Keller, David Benefield, and chip leader Isaac Baron. I’ll be tracking a player I’ve known for awhile from back east, Brian Lemke, as he tries to make Pennsylvania proud.
The other Day 3 brings back the final table of the $1,500 Stud tournament where John Juanda is right in the mix of things with the number 3 chipstack. Jeff Lisandro leads everyone and the field includes Atlantic City regular Nick Frangos. That event restarts at 2pm on the secondary stage in the ESPN area.
Restarting at the same time will be the $10,000 Omaha/8 World Championship that only lost 50 players on Day 1. Far too many pros to begin listing but it will assure another packed day on the rail. I continue my unabashed rooting for Mike Matusow to take this one down but there are plenty of other fantastic players between him and another bracelet. Josh Arieh and Phil Ivey are carrying the Full Tilt flag near the top of the heap starting Day 2.
For a nice change of pace, we only have one new tournament starting up today. Event #19 is the $2,500 6-max No Limit Hold’em tournament which is taking up plenty of tables. These are fun tournaments to cover since the calls of “seat open” are faster than your average event.
Chip counts of the 4 restarting events after the jump:
