Phil Ivey poses with WSOP bracelet #7 after winning $2,500 Omaha/Stud High Low

It seems like just a few short hours since I sat in media row for my short writeup of Phil Ivey winning his 7th World Series of Poker bracelet. I’m back in the Amazon Room getting ready for Day 19 of the WSOP, enjoying the pregame quiet before today’s noon event kicks off.  The days are starting to blend together.

Today at 2:20pm PT Phil Ivey will take the podium for the second time this year to get a shiny new bracelet from Commish Jeffrey Pollack and some new hyper-mega version of the Harrah’s Diamond card. He said he will probably be back later today for the Pot Limit Omaha or H.O.R.S.E. events. Unfortunately for the rest of the players, Ivey looks to be dialed in and says that he’s playing the best tournament poker of his career. Look out Hellmuth!

As far as when he thinks he will pick up his next bracelet, he told the WSOP staff:

WSOP: There are still 32 more events to go at this year’s WSOP. What’s the Over/Under on your next victory.

Ivey: Tomorrow.

Good luck to the rest of the players if he thinks he can pick up a few more this year.

Aside from Phil Ivey picking up his bracelet today, we have more chances for Team Full Tilt to pick up victory number 5.  They will play out the final table of the Pot Limit Omaha/8 today and FTP is represented by Andy Black, Roland De Wolfe, and chip leader/Omaha guru Scott Clements.  The Limit Hold’em tournament played down to the last 15 players and looking for their winner today also.  Richard “Quiet Lion” Brodie quietly showed up in Las Vegas and is sitting 9th in chips.

Today’s restart events include Day 2 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em which stayed true it’s nature and dropped 90% of the field the first day.  The field disappeared at a rate of nearly 4 players per MINUTE.  Only 57 players away from the money to begin.

We’ll also see the next two rounds of the $10,000 Heads Up World Championship.  This event kept the railbirds hopping in the Brasalia Room.  Big names and the spread out field gave them plenty of opportunity to spot their favorite players.  They played down from the sellout of 256 entrants to 64, one HU win from making the money.  Returning players include Jeff Madsen, Steve Zolotow, David “The Dragon” Pham*, Chris Ferguson, Erik Seidel, and Brian Lemke.  Of course heads up specialist Tom “durrrr” Dwan is still kicking.

* Not a real dragon

Today’s new events will have smaller fields allowing room for the $1,500 return.  We expect a European invasion for the noon $2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em field and a pretty descent turn out for the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. at 5pm.

Plenty of action and excitement as the weekend closes out and the bloggers invade the Rio.

Restarting chip counts after the jump:
