ESPN films players entering the soldout Main Event Day 1d
Today we have the final “Day 1″ of the 2009 World Series of Poker and before the cards were even in the air we knew it would be the biggest. They stopped selling seats this morning when registration hit 2,800 meaning anyone who though they would be slick and register late for the Day 1d is now shut out. They’ll be watching the WSOP from the rail or on ESPN. This means we’ll get near 6,500 players for the Main Event, less than last year but a respectable showing considering the economic climate and some other difficulties.
That will give me at least 3 completely full rooms to browse looking for your favorite Team Full Tilt member, and that’s assuming they won’t be loading tables up in the regular poker room or in the hallway.
The schedule for Day 1c and 1d was changed up from how things were done 1a and 1b. They only went through 4 levels on the first two days but switched it up to 5 levels over these last two days due to volume. That will mean that Day 2a will play 5 levels and Day 2b will play 4 levels. Confused? Join the thousands of players in the field trying to figure that one out.
Full Tilt had several players survive yesterday with 2008 Main Event final table player Kelly Kim leading the team with over 132,000 in chips. Howard Lederer, John Juanda, “Miami” John Cernuto, and Ross Boatman were a few of the others with a chance at a World Championship. 2009 WSOP Player of the Year leader Jeff Lisandro crushed through out the day and finished up with 146,950 in chips. Online monsters Eric “Rizen” Lynch and Justin Bonomo are also alive for a bracelet.
It will be a busy day on the rail and between the tables, I’ll do my best to bring all the action.
With a quick walk through the Amazon Room at the start of play I saw Rafe Furst, Svetlana Gromenkova, Steve Brecher, Steve Wong, Scott Clements, Roy Winston, Josh Arieh and friend of the blog Brian Lemke. Erick Lindgren will start the day on the feature table and Phil Ivey will eventually show up on the secondary table.
Brasilia Room browse saw Scott Fischman, Marco Traniello, Jennifer Harmon, Phil Gordon, Chau Giang and Cyndy Violette.
Miranda Room, Buzio Hallway, Rio Poker are all much too far to walk this early.
Many players were shutout of the Main Event Day 1d and crowded the hall
End of Day 1c chip counts for a few Team Full Tilt members:
Kelly Kim – 132,475
Lee Watkinson – 91,050
Matt Hawrilenko – 67,150
Howard Lederer – 58,300
John Juanda – 54,875
“Miami” John Cernuto – 46,075
Paul Wasicka – 21,375
Ross Boatman – 11,400
