amanda baker 05 Big Money Sunday January 18th

Amanda “Mandy B” Baker was the last FTP pro standing in the Million Dollar Guarantee

This weekend brought around the monthly $1 Million Guarantee tournament in place of the $750k and a prizepool over $1,100,000. In total, Big Money Sunday brought out 14,900 players and a total payday of $1,984,440. Just a few buyins short of two million dollars. I was railing several big names in the events including Amanda “Mandy B” Baker and Allen Cunningham with big runs in the Million Dollar. We had several FTOPS winners get close to the big money with Jonas “Klausen” making the Sunday Mulligan final table.

Final table summaries and numbers after the jump.

- The final table of The Sunday Brawl did not bring us a ton of big time players but there were two notable players aiming for the $86k first place prize. Jonas “Klausen” was the big name at the Sunday Brawl final table sporting his FTOPS avatar for winning FTOPS VII Event #18. His largest FTP score was a $160k third place finish in a $1k Monday event. Moshin “chicagocards1″ Charania has over $400k in tournament cashes on FTP alone. Michael “mman_status” Meredith came close to following up in his Sunday Mulligan final table last week but fell just short of this final table.

- The $100k Double Deuce continues to creep near the 10,000 player maximum and it is officially a monster online tournament. A $20 buyin is provided players a chance for a big score for low cost. It’s no surprise that we’re not seeing too many people dominate this event week in and week out. Outlasting 9,000 on a weekly basis. I was railing poker blogger twoblackaces throughout the critical portions of the tournament but he fell short of the final table.

- The big ticket tournament of the evening found several well known online poker players and the quality of play running the tournament out for nearly 11 hours. Steven “gboro780″ Gross won the $30k on January 17th and the $50k in November. The $126,000 second place payout is his largest and pushes his FTP tournament earnings to just south of $900,000. Finishing in 3rd, the previous big scores for “pokerfiend48″ were winning the $35k twice during the summer of ‘08. 4th place finisher 4kappa earned $66,000 after hitting an $8 satellite into the Million Dollar Guarantee. Other final table finishers jkerr31 and icefisherman5 were two other players to satellite their way in for a big score.

- Our winner of the Sunday Mulligan was cwizzlefoshizzl, who as far as I can tell from all my research has never played a single hand in an online poker tournament. Adithya “Intervention” Agarwal has over $400k in FTP career tournament earning including wins in the $40k and $90k Guarantee. 3rd place player Dan “Wretchy” Martin adds to his $70k win during the summer in the Sunday Brawl. Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier has several other big scores winning over $100k in both FTOPS IX Event #17 and the $1 Million Guarantee.
