big money sundays landing Big Money Sundays

Big Money Sunday kicked off with a bang as FTOPS X Main Event winner “Julian Verse” followed up that victory by winning this week’s Sunday Brawl adding nearly $80,000 to his $450,000 from last Sunday.  The brand new $100K Double Deuce sold out all 7,000 seats two days before the scheduled start and was one of the craziest games I’ve ever watched.  The $750,000 Guarantee sported an overlay and the Sunday Mulligan drew over 1,000 players for the last big game of the evening.

Details after the jump.

There’s no possible way to describe the first run the $100k Double Deuce tournament, the new weekly event with a small buy-in and big guarantee. I knew something was going to be different with this game when I went to register for the tournament and found that all 7000 seats were already sold out and the waiting list was pegged at 250 players. So we knew the prizepool would be locked in at $140,000 when the game started at 16:35 ET.

Instead of playing, I decided to act as the proper representative of “Poker From the Rail” and watch the action. I pulled up tables for several friends as well as some red letter pros like FTP blogger Michael Craig. I was stunned by the action during the first few hours of this tournament and I’m pretty damned hard to stun. At the first break the field was narrowed by over 30%. 2,100+ players threw their chips in the middle and called it a night. By the second break even more players were gone, looking a field where fully 2/3 of the 7,000 players were gone in the two hours. It was only 3.5 hours after the start when the money bubble burst at 720 with hand-for-hand action lasting exactly one hand.

From that description you might think I’m writing about one of the uber-turbo games but that is incorrect. The starting stack was 2,200 with 12 minute blinds, antes not kicking in until after the second break. Consider this a solid recommendation for everyone to play in this game at every opportunity, from first appearances it would seem any solid player would have a great chance to make a deep run for some big cash.

The big story was “Julian Verse” following up his FTOPS X Main Event win by taking down the Sunday Brawl.  It was a tough field with many pros and several former FTOPS winners making it deep.  He went into the final table with the chip lead and made a great comeback after getting crippled during head’s up play.  Second place finisher liverdracon had a great chance to make his second final table of the evening during the Sunday Mulligan, sitting top 5 in chips with 3 tables left.

Below are your Sunday final table results.
