Welcome to the new section of Poker From The Rail, Bloggers On The Rail. We are going to attempt to bring you some of the best from around the world of poker bloggers. We will feature some road trip stories, tales from the table, even some posts with actual poker theory. Some guest bloggers will bring you posts that will have you laughing; others will show you new ways to think about your game. We’ll be attempting to expose you to some of the best people who write about this game we all love while trying to entertain and enlighten. Starting soon we will be putting up posts from bloggers you know and some that are brand new.

Until then I want to start by pointing out my favorite sites. Some are from professional players and others are professional writers. For the most part they are "everyday Joes" who love the game and know how to express their thoughts through their words. I’ll highlight some sites you’ve probably heard of already and some that are off your radar but worth the read. This will by no means be a complete, comprehensive list of poker blogs. Not even close. But it will give you a good place to start.

I will be back each day with 5 new sites for your viewing pleasure.

Guinness and Poker

Rumored to be a man of wee stature, few have actually met the "Blogfather" of the poker. His self-imposed anonymity probably took a huge hit last week with his deep run in the WSOP Main Event. His posts range from commentary on current poker news to his famous uber posts where he pulls information from different forums saving everyone the need to cull through 100 pages of mindless drivel. If you can actually pull him away from his pint of Guinness, he is one of the more interesting bloggers to discuss our little game of poker.

Tao of Poker

If Iggy is the Blogfather of poker blogs, Dr. Pauly is the king. No other blogger has done more with his corner of the internet. A professional writer by trade, his words paint a picture he takes everyone else along for the ride. Whether describing his latest poker game or the mass confusion on the floor of the Amazon room, he makes you feel like you are sitting beside him the entire time. For my money, Pauly provided the best coverage from the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Up For Poker

One of the orginal poker blogs. CJ the Original Luckbox, Otis and G-Rob are contributors to the site and all have earned their chops in the world of main stream media. They each have their own unique way to spin a tale but all are entertaining. Otis is one of the best writers amongst the poker bloggers, CJ’s horse picks are worth fading to build a bankroll and G-Rob has great hair.

Lou Krieger

Lou is a professional writer, poker player, radio host and blogger. He has written 11 best selling books and has some great insight into our world since the passage of a certain act of Congress. This is a great look into the world of poker by someone who has seen a lot. The fact that he agrees with my assessment of the online Omaha/8 tables has nothing to do with my endorsement.

The Vegas Year

Robert is a professional poker player living in Las Vegas. That’s the business end of the site; it’s his writing that makes the blog worth reading. He only began posting in 2007 but his style is engaging, entertaining and a great look into the world of a dialy grinder. Anyone thinking about pulling up stakes and moving to Vegas should give him a read.

I will be back tomorrow with the next 5 blogs that you should be reading. Until then, good luck at the table.
