It’s nearly impossible to track down when the first blog dedicated to poker hit the internet. In the early days, poker blogs would pop up every day and just as quickly disappear. There were few bloggers who could dedicate their entire site to poker and stay interested enough to keep it going.

My next five recommended sites have not only survived but continue to improve. They offer up their daily words to the poker gods and we thank them by wasting our workday reading them.

Pokerati

DanM started his site many years ago writing about the Texas poker scene and the fortunes of his friends at the tables. Now Pokerati is one of the top blogs for poker news and information, providing their perspective from inside the rail at the WSOP. They have several outstanding writers, might as well include DanM himself, who never pull any punches whether tracking down a hot story or having fun at some one’s expense. If you don’t have a full hour to commit to listening to a podcast, Pokerati and Dr. Pauly put together a series of mini-casts during the WSOP that are short and entertaining. You can get them at Tao of Pokerati.

Nat Arem

If there’s breaking news in the world of poker, chances are Nat is not only aware of them but also working to get to the bottom of things. Nat has been around a long time and is one of the most trusted resources in the community. He made a name for himself several years ago when he create ThePokerDB.com but has increased his exposure recently by investigating a certain "unnamed" poker site.

Wicked Chops Poker

An irreverent look at the poker world through the eyes of a horny high school teenager. At least it seems that way at first glance. The sophomoric humor keeps the readers coming back, including myself, but their attitude helps remind everyone that we’re playing a game. It doesn’t have to be serious business all the time. Did I mention the girls?

LasVegasVegas

Started by the father/son team of PokerProf and FlipChip. The two have spent their time immersed in the Las Vegas poker scene since the beginning and have seen it all. PokerProf handles the content while FlipChip is one of the top photographers in Vegas. You could spend an entire day looking through his photo archives and never come close to seeing them all.

Poker Grub

One of the 20 first blogs dedicated to poker. Grubby is a degenerate in the truest sense of the word. The sky is the limit when it comes to ridiculous prop bets and adult entertainment. More importantly, Grubby is credited with designating 72o as the Hammer back in 2004 courtesy of his home game. Bloggers have been playing that horrible hand since he began challenging us back in 2004 to "Drop the Hammer".
