Mike Matusow hosted FTOPS X Event #1
FTOPS X kicked off last night with a monster $1,000,000 guarantee tournament which drew a huge crowd. 5,124 players paid $216 for the 6-max superstack game paying out $195,000+ to the winner. The tournament lasted a crazy 9.5 hours finishing in the wee hours of the morning. Winner davin77 must have really been dragging since he was playing from Germany.
Recap after the jump.
I had every intention of staying up late to report on the final table but found myself nodding off around 3am local time and the game continued for another 3 hours. When the tournament started, I fired up a half dozen tables to track some of the top Full Tilt pros and the first chip leaders.
With the 6-max format, action was fast and loose early. Chipstacks were bouncing all over the place and bustouts were impossible to track. Some players seemed determined to double up quickly or go home while others were trying to dodge the minefield using the deepstacks and slow structure. The money bubble burst with player pheababy in 493rd.
Player willcutyou was the final table bubble boy with the rest vying for the $195k payday. Here’s how they finished up.
1st – davin77 – $195,757.30
2nd – Bog25 – $119,901.60
3rd – smoothustler – $83,213.76
4th – SisterSue056 – $61,488
5th – AlwaysTrustMe – $45,091.20
6th – FaGi – $30,744
7th – imabigkidnow – $19,778.64
8th – WhiteBoi05 – $19,778.64
9th – halfrek – $13,104.96
A few notes on the final table players:
davin77 – As far as I can tell from every resource available to me, this seems to be his first ever MTT played and he won the big ticket item. If anyone out there knows any better about him/her drop me a line. He/She plays from Germany.
imabigkidnow – Has a long history of MTT success on Full Tilt with 8 wins and 131 cashes. This $19k final table prize takes him over $300,000 in MTT earnings in FTP events.
halfrek – The $13k won just adds to his career earnings which are already over $1,000,000 on FTP. He had two tournament wins in FTOPS VIII. Event #11 for $300,000+ and the 2 Day $2,500 buyin Event #21 for $500,000+.
Tournament host Mike Matusow seemed to have a bulls eye on his back as his table was playing back at him early and often with any two cards. He eventually busted out with A8 versus 89s with his opponent running out the flush. Scott Fischman was up well but quickly lost his stack in two hands, QQ vs AA and AQ vs QQ. Full Tilt blogger Michael Craig didn’t seem to be able to get any traction and was out early. Stuart Paterson and Roy “The Oracle” Winston were out first in the 5000’s.
Three red letter pros cashed in this first event. Beth Shak finished 325th for $420.17, Adam Schoenfeld in 305 for $461.16 and Aaron Bartley in 225th for $563.64. That finish puts Bartley at the top of the completely unofficial Poker From the Rail FTOPS X Leaderboard.
Results after 1 event:
1. Aaron Bartley – $563.64
2. Adam Schoenfeld – $461.16
3. Beth Shak – $420.17
4. 31 others tied with empty pockets
FTOPS X continues later today with two events. Satellites are constantly running so there are plenty of chances to get in on the cheap.
