I spend my last night in Barcelona much as the others, waking up at 10pm, playing poker all night and watching some TV with Celina. Because of the delay in the embassy shipping her passport with visa installed, she has to stay behind a few days while I go ahead.
I head off to the airport around 10AM and begin to feel tired. I pass out for most of my flight between Barcelona and Philadelphia despite the uncomfortable seat. For some reason, the first flight is incredibly cold. I am shivering with two blankets on top of me and a long sleeve shirt, and ask the flight attendant for more blankets, which he can’t find.
In the Philadelphia airport I find a book store since I’ve run out of reading material. I glance around then grab the new Steven Colbert book. When I bring it up to the register the guy behind it looks up at me and says “Hey man you want the new James Bond book?”
What the hell? Sick read. I’m not even wearing a suit.
“Uh yea, hell yea. Where’s it at?”
He points over to a red book on the rack. I bring it back and put it on the counter.
“Yea, you looked like you’d want that one.”
Man, massive soul read. Perhaps I should get him a ticket to Vegas. Or maybe they’re just trying to get rid of the damn thing and it’s his job to pimp it to everyone.
The flight to Vegas is delayed and I sleep for the first couple hours of it. I spend the last few reading and we touch down about an hour and a half late. When I get to our Vegas house I borrow $1,500 off Adanthar, then head down to Korean BBQ with Gobboboy. I buy in for tomorrow’s event then play a $175 satellite for some damn reason in the satellite room. They have organized the WSOP considerably better this year around. There’s a side cashier area, a side satellite room, and the room now has color coding. There wasn’t even an all-night line for buying into the event, which took just a few minutes.
I get home around 3AM and set the alarm for 11AM. Gobboboy tells me he’ll be leaving a note for Iweargoggles to pick me up around 11:30 since nobody in my house is going to the Rio tomorrow. Always good to have a contingency plan.
