They’re heading into Day 2 of the second event of the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe and a Tilter is leading the way as they head towards the money. Only 158 players put down the £2,500 for the mixed Pot Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha tournament but they only dropped down to 24 players, with 18 of those making the money. Eric Cajelais will bring his intimidation back to play down to a winner. Cajelias is sitting with 145,000, also alive are Team Full Tilt are Howard Lederer and Vitaly Lunkin. Men Nguyen, Allie Prescott, and Hoyt Corkins are also in contention.

Here at The Borgata I am spending my time watching a bunch of grinder fight their way through to make the $925,000 payday along with the televised WPT final table. Getting down close the bubble we had two big Full Tilt pros battling it out against each other and entertaining the rail in the process. Bill Gazes joined the table with Gavin Smith and local poker legend “Joey the B” Brooks right up against the rail and things were entertaining. Until just before the dinner break. Smith and Gazes were both sitting with decent size stack when Smith 3-bet the preflop raise of Gazes. Push, call, and all the chips were in the middle with Smith holding AA and Gazes a lowly little pair of 6’s. No sweating involved as a 6 was waiting in the door.

Day 3 of the WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship where they’ll make the money and play down to 27. Still kicking around in the event we have Bill Gazes, Steve Brecher, Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah, Justin “TooRoothlus” Levy (brother of “Roothlus), Kathy Liebert, Matt Brady, Michael Binger, Chris Reslock, and Lee Childs.

It was a rough day for the Full Tilt pros as they ran into more than their share of bad luck. David “Dragon” Pham and Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby both had their days ended prematurely by getting chopped at the knees when they were holding AA and QQ. The offending hands were dominated. Beth Shak was nursing her short stack and dead cards, crashing out halfway through the day.

Two Full Tilt pros remain in the field starting Day 3 but will need to do some work to make the 54 player money bubble. Robert Mizrachi is sitting with $262,500 and Steve Brecher with $92,500.

They will begin the day in Level 17, blinds at 3,000 / 6,000 500 ante.

Update: both Mizrachi and Blecher were eliminated before the money bubble burst.

A yoga joke in a poker blog? I’ve really outdone myself this time. For those of you who don’t know, the Downward Dog is a yoga position. Hey, don’t judge me man. I’m not one to pass up the opportunity to see spandex clad women putting themselves in compromising positions. What was I saying? Let’s give this one to Brecher – everyone loves a hungry hippo.

Steve “Brec” Brecher, huh? Well, that’s original. Whereas E-Dog sounds like the name a rapper might use. We’re all about the rappers around here, except for The Captain and his frightening fascination with Neil Diamond (shudder). For shizzle my whizzle, E-Dog takes down this bizzle (god bless Snoop Dogg for teaching an entire generation of young white males to talk like they’ve got a kazoo in their mouth).

I once dreamed of becoming a software programmer, but then I remembered that I’m an idiot. Sucks to be me, huh? I have a small soft spot in my heart reserved for anyone who attempts to be a writer (although I could just be having a heart attack – maybe I should get that checked out), so I have to give this one to E-Dog. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks (banging my head against the wall, that’s number seven), but don’t tell that Lindgren. The score stands at 6.5 to 1.5 for Erick.

E-Dog once took part in a famous prop bet where he had to play four rounds of golf in one day, carrying his own bag in the scorching Vegas sun. Now, I know not everyone who reads this blog has been to Vegas, so I’m going to let you all in on a little secret about Sin City – it’s hot. Like, dear God I think my skin is melting off my body hot. So for E-Dog to finish this prop bet was no small feat. Mad props to the prop bet master, Lindgren finishes off Brecher with style.

So that’s that. Lindgren takes down Brecher by a score of 7.5 to 1.5. Man, E-Dog just treated Brec like a common fire hydrant (number eight, thank god it’s over). Have a great day and please, remember to spay and neuter your pets, lest we someday live in a world that’s controlled by dogs and cats. Until next week…
