Sigi Stockinger

While he has played poker for more than 30 years, Sigi only began playing poker seriously in 1990 when casinos began to appear in Austria. A former banker and businessman, Sigi sold his business in 1995 to pursue his passion and become a professional poker player. Since then, he’s earned a reputation as a top player in both Europe and the US.

Sigi has reached more than 30 final tables in his career, including seven first-place finishes in his native Austria. He has amassed more than $500K in winnings on the European tournament circuit, playing in events ranging from 7-Card Stud to No-Limit Hold ‘em and his favorite game, Pot-Limit Omaha.

In the US, Sigi has posted five WSOP cash finishes, including his most recent in the 2007 $1.5K Pot-Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event where he finished 19th and walked away with over $6K.

In Austria, Sigi has won the Austrian Open Tournament, broadcast live on DSF before an audience of millions. He went on to make appearances on one of Austria’s biggest lifestyle shows, Vera Exclusiv, as an Austrian ambassador for poker. He was nick-named the “Sigminator” after defeating numerous opponents during a visit to a US casino – a name that he says he can live with quite well.

Away from poker, Sigi enjoys chess, tennis, and skiing. He is also a music fan and is into fine wines. When he’s not travelling the world playing poker, Sigi lives in Linz, Austria with his wife and two daughters. Look for Sigi playing Pot-Limit Omaha in ring games at Full Tilt Poker.
