Soren Kongsgaard

Danish player Søren Kongsgaard began playing poker in 2004 after watching television coverage of the World Poker Tour. He started out playing home games, before moving to online poker. Søren built his bankroll by concentrating on $0.10/$0.25 ring games and then went on to play tournaments. After graduating from business school, he decided to turn his attention to poker full time.

Using the skills he learned online, Søren began playing on the European tournament circuit. Despite the demands of travelling, he enjoys the excitement and social nature of his newly established career, and his dedication and commitment have certainly begun to pay off.

In March of 2007, Søren placed 3rd in the EPT €10,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em Grand Final in Monte Carlo, winning over $800K. Later that year he won the No-Limit Hold 'em Championship Event at the Danish Championships in Copenhagen, walking away with more than $230K in prize money. Søren's achievements that year earned him a Rookie of The Year Europe Award. His success continued in 2008 with a 12th place finish in the World Series of Poker Europe £10,000 World Championship No-Limit Hold ‘em event for over $100K.

In 2010, he reached the final table of the Partouche Poker Tour – Main Event, finishing sixth for a prize of €240K (336K).

Søren spends much of his spare time learning more about poker and improving his game. When he’s not practicing his poker skills, Soren enjoys watching various sports, including football and soccer.

You can play with Søren online at Full Tilt Poker.
