Stephan Kalhamer

Stephan is an author, mathematician and poker fan, which makes him a perfect addition to the Friends of Full Tilt Poker. One of the best known poker ambassadors in his home country, he is the first German player to join this group of players.

A graduate in Mathematics from the University of Regensburg, Stephan also studied in the US at Brandeis University, Harvard University and MIT. After his studies, he worked for several companies calculating prognoses and applied these concepts to poker. He quickly realized that he wanted to make a living from poker and in 2006 established The Gambling Institute, working as an author and a consultant.

His book, Stephan Kalhamer’s Texas Hold ‘em Poker, is one of the best selling poker books in Germany and has been translated into seven languages. Stephan has also collaborated with well known poker players to produce other guides, such as Poker Matrix, and translated David Sklansky’s Theory of Poker for German readers. He still works as a strategy consultant and coach, offering professional poker coaching, along with speaking at business seminars and publishing regular columns in the German poker media.

Outside of poker, Stephan is a family man. He is married with two children and lives in his hometown of Regensburg. You can find him playing online at Full Tilt Poker.
